Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Autumn TBR

1. The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

I first heard about this book on bookstagram and I'm really looking forward to reading it,  I'm saving this for October for one of those kind of 'spooky' feel reads. I'm also really glad I was able to pick up a signed edition from Waterstones!

2. Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell

My feelings about this can be summarised as:

I've also just started a re-read of 'Carry On' in preparation for this and I'm so excited to be back with Baz and Simon again, our two dumb gays.

3. The Folk of Air series by Holly Black

No one ever shuts up about these books! So I've decided I'm gonna read them, because they hype has not died down and that's telling me something - either you're all on your twilight shit again or this actually good. Only time will tell with this one, but I am excited to dive into it and see what it's all about.

4. City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

I know absolutely nothing about this book, but I'm gonna read it! I am only picking this up now because  'ghosts' is in the title and we're heading into October and spooky times so I kind of have to read it now. Also, after reading 'A Darker Shade of Magic' and it's sequel (but not the third yet) I do trust Schwab to give me something good.

5. The Secret Commonwealth (The Book of Dust #2)

Michael fucking Sheen has narrated this audiobook and I must listen to it!! For those of you who don't know, Michael fucking Sheen also narrated the first book in this series and it was bloody incredible - it made the entire book. So if you struggled to read the first one but want to carry on in Phillip Pullman's world then listen to the audiobook, I promise it's a whole different experience.

6. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

Even though I included this in my last TTT as a book I was scared to pick up, I know I have to read this this autumn. It's an absolute must for me, I can't leave it. I might also re-read the Handmaids Tale beforehand, but I'm not sure if I'll do that or not yet. I think it depends on how much reading I get done before that, and if any other books are added to my Autumn TBR.

7. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

This has been on my TBR for far too long now, and with the sequel coming out for this December I know it's really time I read this now. I don't have any excuses left and it's kinda bad if I don't pick this up. Admittedly, this is at the bottom of my pile for my Autumn TBR so I may pick it up in early December instead but I'm going to read it in the next few months.

8. The Toll by Neil Shusterman

I can't explain my excitement for this one! I loved 'Scythe' and 'Thunderhead' so much, and with the ending we saw in 'Thunderhead' I need to know what happens next! This is one of the books I'll have pre-ordered closer to it's release date so I can have it instantly. I will also probably reread 'Scythe' and 'Thunderhead' approaching the release date.

9. Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell

I am so ready for this cute read, I just want to snuggle in bed one day with a cup of tea and rain beating against my window and read this in one sitting. The storyline sounds cute, the art is cute, the characters look cute so I'm just ready for a little bit of a cute read this Autumn. (Have I stressed enough that I think this will be a cute read?)

10. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Y'all have made me do this. I read the first two books in the 'Shiver' trilogy as a young teenager and even then felt they were a little 'meh', so I never thought I'd read another Maggie Stiefvater book again; but look at who has no backbone! No one ever shuts up about this series, it seems to be universally loved and I kinda want to know what the big deal is so I'm caving to peer pressure.

  1. I am still waiting for my copy of "Pumpkinheads" to be delivered and I'm so excited for it. Also, the Raven boys have been chilling on my TBR for quite some time now but I'm just not in the mood for it. No matter how many people constantly tell me how much they love it.
I also have been putting off "Scythe" for quite some time but if I ever get to it and I love it I at least don't have to wait for the sequels. I love your selection and i hope you have great fun with it.

  4. The Testaments was incredible! My review of it will be coming out on my blog in a few days. I highly recommend picking it up, but a re-read of The Handmaid's Tale and a quick brush-up on what's going on in the show might be a good idea first if you have the time/energy for that.

This book assumes the readers have a decent understanding of those two things. It explains a lot of stuff, but some things do rely on you to remember certain character names, etc.

    My TTT.
