Why We Broke Up by David Handler Review

Do you ever read a book that you push yourself through because it's kinda boring but you expected it to be good, so you keep reading in the desperate hope it may get a little bit better? 'Why We Broke Up' was that book for me. It was only after finishing this book did I learn that David Handler occasionally writes under the pen name Lemony Snicket, as in the author that partially ruled my childhood along with other great authors like Rowling. At first, I didn't believe it; I couldn't believe Lemony Snicket had written something I found so dull and I'm just so disappointed. The story of 'Why We Broke Up' is centred around a young girl named Min, as she writes a letter to her ex-boyfriend Ed, with each chapter being based on a separate item she saved during their relationship. Within each chapter she talks about where the item came from, and this is nicely accompanied by an illustration of said item. It's a fairly sweet premise and you woul

Recent Reads #2

So, reading has been interesting recently, I've just been in this massive reading slump, and even when I do read I haven't really thought about what I'm reading I guess - which isn't very useful when you're attempting to run a book blog. However, I thought I would give you a little update on what I have managed to read. 1. How To Stop Time by Matt Haig So I think I went about reading Matt Haig in the wrong way. I made the awful mistake of reading 'The Humans' first, which by the way if you haven't read then go buy a copy now and sit down for a wild, emotional ride because it is one of the best things I've ever read. Now, the problem with 'The Humans' though, is I'm not sure if any other Matt Haig book will live up to it now; because this wasn't a bad book by any means nor did I dislike reading it, but I couldn't help but be disappointed because it's just not as good. I wanted it to be as good, but unfortunately it

Looking Forward

Hi All!  Again, it's been a while and normally I'd apologise and promise I'll get back on track and post regularly - but I'm not going to do that this time. This time we're going to look forward fully instead of looking back, after all it's a new year right?  So, I'm not going to make any promises, I'm not going to sit here and say I'm going to post and read regularly. I'm going to do what I want to do, and do what's right by me. I don't want this to feel like a full time commitment, this is meant to be a way for me to unwind - not stress me out with deadlines. This year is going to be me posting what I want when I want, and it's not always going to be regular - my mental health is too irregular to promise that.  Instead I want to talk about what I want to do going forward into 2019 with this blog and my reading.  I'm going to listen to an audiobook for the very first time - kinda shocking I know. I just never tho
