To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo Review

Image
Rating: 4/5 stars Hey! So I finished To Kill A Kingdom earlier this month, and I wanted to sit on it a little bit before I wrote a review, because I wasn't sure if it was as good as I thought it was - but it's certainly held up. This book is tons of fun, and the characters are by far the best thing about this. I do have some problems with the book which keep it from a five stars from me, but overall I really enjoyed so it's earnt four stars. Lyra is our female protagonist, she is a ruthless siren known as the 'Prince's Bane', and is infamous for killing only princes as she lures them off their ships. She's also the heir to her mother's throne under the waves, and her ambition to take the throne is made very clear from early on. But, she's thrust into the world of Elian by her own mother as a punishment, a prince whose taken up being a pirate in his pastime to avoid the crow, and has a particular delight in murdering sirens - his dream, to kil

LGBT+ Books On My Radar

Hey!  So just a quick update first of all, I am very busy with work and studying right now so my blog updates my be a bit sparse (as if they're not already). I'm going to update my blog once a week on a Friday until exam season is done, however this many not always happened due to exams I may have on Friday or if I don't have time to write a complete blog post so please be patient! But I am updating my blog today and I wanted to talk about LGBT+ books, and whilst there has been so much more of these recently I wanted to make a post about a few I've been eyeing up that I don't think are getting enough attention.  1. Superior by Jessica Lack Genres: YA, LGBT, Fantasy Synopsis: ' A superhero's intern falls in love with a supervillain's apprentice in this star-crossed LGBT YA story from The Book Smugglers.   Here's the thing about being a superhero intern: there's a lot less crime fighting than you think there will be, what with the whol

Graphic Novels I Want To Read

Image
Hey! So, a genre I really want to read but never seem to pick up is graphic novels and I know exactly why I do this: graphic novels are bloody expensive. I know a lot of work goes into them, but they are short and really quick to read and most of the time they're shorter than other books at that price, so I find them hard to buy. However, I am going to make a conscience effort to read more graphic novels before the year is up so here is my list of ones I want to read this year: 1. Saga, Vol 2 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples (Artist) Synopsis: 'The smash-hit ongoing epic continues! Thanks to her star-crossed parents Marko and Alana, newborn baby Hazel has already survived lethal assassins, rampaging armies, and alien monstrosities, but in the cold vastness of outer space, the little girl encounters something truly frightening: her grandparents! ' Why I want to read it: I read the first volume to this sometime last year I think, but I'm not entirely sure.

March 2018 Wrap Up!

Hey Everyone! I know it's been a while, and this is a bit late but honestly I've been so busy. I've just started working in this cafe and I have my exams coming up and now I'm off to Spain for a few days tomorrow - my life never seems to have a break but I'm here now! I really struggled to read anything this month so this is not going to be very long, and because of how my summer is going to be defined by exams I'm not going to post TBRs for a while because I know I won't have much time to read. 1. The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed This was the first book I read last month and boy was it a way to start, this is now one of my favourite books and is such a stand out to me. I still can' quite understand why this isn't talked about more because honestly it is amazing, I loved our three protagonist who had such unique voices and really represented girls. I loved the female power and the community shown between girls in this - it really showed what it co
