Moonlit Books

So this book was an experience to say the least, and when I say experience I really mean frustrating. This book came out a long time ago in terms of how much YA has developed since then, and maybe that’s way - our standards as readers have changed.  I was really disappointed not to like this book because the premise itself is a good idea - it just wasn’t well executed. The idea of Mara dying and then coming back and being able to see ghosts, and the hints that we see in the novel about her also having supernatural powers SHOULD have been really interesting - but it wasn’t. It wasn’t interesting because it focused on a lackluster and quite frankly boring romance instead.  Also, the villains in this book were laughable. You have your bully, our typical YA mean girl ‘slut’ because she slept with a few guys and likes the main love interest - obviously a total a whore. Who obviously doesn’t deserve to have feelings or not to be ridiculed by everyone, and of course ha...

Now, I wasn't exactly tagged for this  because I have no friends (please be my friend), but I'm gonna do it anyway because it looks like fun. I also realise it's kinda over halfway through the year already, but we're gonna ignore that and just keep going.  I also wanted to do this tag because I saw it first on some YouTube videos on and a few blogs, and thought it was kind of interesting, and if it’s not, at least it will be a good way for me to track what I’ve read this year. I have changed mine up slightly, so I have dodged a few questions, but that's okay.  1. The Best Book You've Read in 2018 I can't decide between the two! Easily my two favourites so far however, both carry such great messages and you experience such highs and lows with both. They are definitely books I would recommend to anyone. 2. Hey Everyone! So I'm flying out to Florida for two weeks and I'm feeling pretty excited about it, but that also mean blog updates/comment replying will be even slower than usual as I'll have limited wifi and whatnot. A Gathering of Shadows and A Conjouring of Light by V. E. Schwab   I loved A Darker Shade of Magic which I only read really recently, and I can't not carry on with the sequels immediately - the first one was just too good. I think these however will be more flight reads for me, because goddamn it's a long ass flight. Hi Everyone! MY A LEVELS ARE FINISHED!! They went okay I think, but that's not what is important on here. I'm just excited that I now finally have time to blog again, and I thought I should talk about the books I've read recently (there's not a lot btw). I've got to be honest, I kinda like the idea of recent reads instead of monthly wrap-ups so I may stick to doing this but I'm not sure yet. Anyway, I hope you're all great and here are the books I've read over the last two months. 1. Scythe by Neil Shusterman There's so much hype surrounding this books, but boy is it well deserved. Neil Scusterman has created an absolutely amazing world that I love and can't wait to read more of. I really liked our main characters, including the scythes and their apprentices, and the relationships all them had with each other - including Citra and Rowan's. Rating: 4/5 stars Hey! So I finished To Kill A Kingdom earlier this month, and I wanted to sit on it a little bit before I wrote a review, because I wasn't sure if it was as good as I thought it was - but it's certainly held up. This book is tons of fun, and the characters are by far the best thing about this. Hey! So, a genre I really want to read but never seem to pick up is graphic novels and I know exactly why I do this: graphic novels are bloody expensive. I know a lot of work goes into them, but they are short and really quick to read and most of the time they're shorter than other books at that price, so I find them hard to buy.
